ABBREVIATIONS

Throughout OilBase, there are a number of abbreviations. Below is a listing of the abbreviations and their meanings.

The album abbreviations used in OilBase are:

LP: Standard long playing vinyl album.
7" EP: 7" Extended Play. Smaller vinyl release also with frequent alternative song versions. These may also be called 45's (because their playback speed is 45 RPM).
10" EP: 10" Extended Play. Less than full-length (fewer songs) acetate/plastic release generally with alternative song versions. They are also commonly called Flexi-Discs and are frequently released as magazine inserts.
12" EP: 12" Extended Play. Less than full-length (fewer songs) vinyl release generally with alternative song versions.
CD: Compact Disc. Full length album equivalent of LP.
CD3: 3" CD. Smaller sized CD single equivalent of 7" EPs. They generally come with a standard size CD adapter.
CD5: 5" CD. Full sized CD equivalent of 12" EPs. They are also commonly called CD Singles or CD EPs.
CAS: Cassette Tape.
VHS: Video Tape.
